Where & When?
HERE & NOW.
From Rio de Janeiro to Vancouver.
A few months ago, I moved to this wonderful city with a lot of dreams and ideals. Even though it's not the perfect time, I am ready to chase them.
I am aware that we are living in unprecedented times due to COVID-19, but I hope, with we all doing our part, we will be able to overcome this challenge successfully.
Be safe and take care ;D
Who am I?
My name is Adriana Melo, a senior graphic designer from Brazil. My career history is not only there, but I also have experience in the USA. I've worked for more than 20 years (and still counting) in the field of advertising, communication & design.
My ultimate goal now is to share my experience and be part of a great team, in order to learn more about the field, people, new technologies, design, strategies, and communication in Canada.
Design is my passion. For me, design is more than just creating beautiful things, it's how we can see the bigger picture. It's mixing visual concepts with business strategy and the way people experience.
What can I say? I really love what I do.
How I've made a difference?
In Brazil, we have to choose what we are going to do for living at the age of 17, so I can say that I am either a visionary or very lucky. Since high school, I knew that I wanted to be a graphic designer and my passion has only grown since then.
In 1997, I completed my undergraduate degree in Visual Communication at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
In 1999, I finished my postgraduate degree in visual arts at the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
I've taken several extra courses since then because I believe we always have space to learn more and we can't stop studying ...
(that's why I will have to leave
this part unfinished. :)
During the 4 years that I lived in the USA (from 1998 to 2001), I was part of TBG's wonderful creative team as an art director, providing design solutions for million-dollar corporate contracts under extremely tight deadlines.
In 2002, back in Brazil, I joined Casa de Criação (house of Creation) as a senior art director/graphic designer and left as a creative director to start my own business. I worked with important clients such as Odebrecht, Esso (ExxonMobil), Weight Watchers, Praxair among others.
In 2018 I started my own design studio "Creative Cell", which is my current occupation. I continue to work for various clients around the globe while opening to new opportunities here in Vancouver.
I am a highly motivated person and I love to challenge myself. And, even though, I have more than 20 years of experience, I know that I still have a lot to learn.
I am detail-oriented, highly enthusiastic and a team player, with a positive attitude and high energy level. As I said before, I AM HERE AND NOW!
I am often described as an energetic and easy-going person who always tries to look on the bright side of things, but why take other people's word for it?
If you think that I will be a good fit for your company. Don't hesitate in contacting me.
